Friday Funny 01-29/2021 (At Seattle Boat Show but Not)

I could drink wine while I watch the webinar!

We're at the Seattle Boat Show for the next couple of days. To be honest, we're not actually AT the boat show, we're watching remotely from the comfort of our salon. For five dollars, we get to watch all of the approximately 50 minute seminars, we could have spent more, and get all of the 2-3 hour seminars, and the ability to rewatch all of the content later, but we felt it wasn't necessary. I personally think that they should do this every year. I wouldn't have to arrange for a flight, hotel, and ground transportation, but the downside is that we don't get any cool swag either. No floating key chains, bottle openers, logo hats, bags, or baubles, pamphlets, stickers and business cards, things we stash somewhere inconvenient, and throw away later. 😁

The show has a dropdown box for "shop the show", it works fairly well, except that not all of the exhibitors have a website, and they request you email/call them for information. Sorry, if I'm just mildly curious about your product, that's not going to happen it would be better to provide some basic information up front. If I want to actually shop, I'm going to go that that company's website in the first place, unless of course, I'm looking for a code to apply for a  boat show special.

You can also walk the "virtual floor show", it's not the same as wandering around and picking up free candy, so in order to induce you to try it, there are sea chests scattered around the floor, you click on them, and get entered into prize drawings. I found several.

In between seminars, I tried to do a few chores, the usual, dishes, eating, showers, etc, and I've been trying to  organize "my stuff" in our cabin. I moved the curtains on one of the ports on the the port side.

I can't see out!

We looked at the cracked, not just crazed port window, and said, "AH HA!" One night last week, at about 2:00am, we heard a loud POP, and some hissing, but neither that night, or the next day could we find the source of the noise, and we dismissed it to, weird thing things that happen. I guess we'll put some clear rescue tape over it for the time being, and then get some glass made to fit in the frame later.

It's back to the wine, and webinar, I've a few more things to learn....

As always, we enjoy hearing from you, either here in comments or on our Facebook Denali Rose Sailboat page.

Friday Funny 01-15/2021 (Bernie Takes a Tour of Alaska)

This infographic showed up in my Facebook feed this week, it can be found in it's entirety, with explanations at Visual Capitalist. Did you notice that Alaska is rated as it's own land mass, at number 21st largest. It's always funny when folks ask about the weather here, to compare, it's like asking about Florida weather, when you want to know about Minnesota weather.
Alaska Business Magazine

Okay, with all of the Berne memes out there, I thought I would share some of my favorite Alaskan ones.
Our friend James, and his cafe in Wrangell.
Bernie is in Sitka.
Bernie is on Douglas Island, across from Juneau.
Bernie likes to ice fish, he may actually do this in his home state. Who knows?
"Flying Wild Alaska" was a program on the Discovery Channel, it was pretty good, except that the narration in the background made every event an emergency.
Breakaway Adventures is a boat charter company in Wrangell

Bernie is in Fairbanks at the University of Alaska. Yes, this is a thing, when the weather turns cold, get your bathing suit on, and get your photo taken with the temperature sign.

Bernie is in an outhouse on the tundra.

Bob Ross actually lived in Alaska for awhile.

Bernie is at the "Into the Wild" bus where that idiot Chris McCandless died. Thank goodness the state has removed the bus after several people died trying to go see it, and countless others had to be rescued, at state expense. That's what I've always said, move it to town, and charge gullible people to see it. Easy money. (Hey Donna, tell us what you really think.)

Not a safe place to sit Bernie. We've had the awesome adventure of standing on that boardwalk and platform. The Falls, in Katmai National Park.

Bernie is in the chairlift at Alyeska Ski Resort. I used to ski there when I was a teenager, it was a gorgeous place to ski, not that I ever noticed that while I was skiing.

At the Top of The World, Utqiagvik, formerly known as Barrow.

This is the "igloo", a shell of a building, located on the Parks Highway between Anchorage, and Fairbanks. It was going to be a hotel, and for financial reasons had to be abandoned. It's now a landmark.

Bernie gets a ride in a dogsled, hold on tight, those dogs really move!

Enjoying the rest, Bernie perches outside Ray Troll's art store in Ketchikan.

Santa Claus House in North Pole Alaska.

Bernie is enjoying the ambiance at Chilkoot's, a bar in Anchorage, known for sawdust, and peanut shells on the floor, as well as the, occasional rough crowd.

A scenic place to sit while enjoying the Fireweed.

Had enough? Okay one more, not Alaskan, but funny. 😁

Friday Funny 01-08/21 (Musings)

If Bill hasn't seen a Friday Funny email notification by late Friday afternoon he reminds me about writing one. I don't feel like knuckling down, and writing one that late in the day, so I keep my Netflix open, and ignore him.
Life isn't very exciting at the moment anyway, the usual tasks, post office for mail, grocery store for food, watching the rain fall, and that's pretty much it. I had a dental visit this past week, so I got another Covid test, and it was negative. We're waiting for the phone call to give us an appointment for shots.
I've plenty of Bota Box wine onboard, so when I begin my wine tour, I'll have plenty of selection. Hmm, start out in galley, sit in the dinette, move to the salon, (that sounds elegant doesn't it), and then closeout the tour in the master suite, (another elegant sounding name.)
I got this for Bill to hang up in the galley, that pretty much sums it up! As always, we enjoy hearing from you, either here in comments or on our Facebook Denali Rose Sailboat page.
