Bet you thought I'd given up writing ......

There are several reasons for the absence of Friday Funnys.
- We've had cell signal/internet/wifi, about 15% of the time we've been out and about.
- My computer is having fits, and temper tantrums
- I'm using the nav station computer now, and it's devoid of my bookmarks, and photos.
A computer is a a personal thing, you spend time setting it up, putting icons, bookmarks, photos, and music right where you want them, adjusting the track pad, the dock, the tabs, the screensaver, and browsers to suit your tastes. A borrowed machine is just not the same.
My computer decided that it would crash open websites whenever it wanted, and then it started to shut down, and give me the black screen of death periodically. That's pretty inconvenient when you're in the middle of something.

The usual help desk joke. |
I didn't need this kind of advice, as the computer was doing it all by itself, on it's own timeline. So now I have taken the time to transfer all of my photos, videos, and documents, to a hard drive, and Bill has offered to wipe it, and reinstall the operating system. Oh joy. For the interim I was using my Ipad, but I can't post to blogger using photos, and that was also a factor in my silence.
Enough of my excuses...
One of the recent highlights of our latest cruising life was meeting up with the family on
SV Fluenta. Bill had been in contact with Max through a sailing forum, and when he found out they were headed back to Canada via Alaska, they continued contact through email. We sent them our Prince Wm Sound cruising guides, and books because they can be hard to find, and Fluenta wanted to meet up in SE Alaska to return them.

The channel into Red Bay, with the usual disaster names, Danger Island, and Dead Island. |
We spent a couple of days together in Red Bay at the northern tip of Prince of Wales Island, (AK, not CAN), and had such fun together. We hosted dinner, they hosted dinner.... good food, good conversation, while we waited out the gales that were happening outside our secure bay in Sumner Strait.

SV Fluenta is a lovely Stevens 47, and I marveled at their spacious locker space. They needed to be on their way, so we bid them goodbye, (for now), and they continued onto Ketchikan, and ultimately Canada, which is their home. They've been featured in their local news.
